Alan Moore must hate the Chinese. Ok ok, just kidding. Really loved the characters, the witty dialogue and the lush set-pieces. Can't wait to read the other books.

Exciting and intricate artwork, good use of famous fictional characters, and a fun plot. A wild ride that I enjoyed. There are portions of this graphic novel that have aged very poorly (the entire women's school plot), treatment of Sikh character, etc. It is still very noticeable why Alan Moore remains a legend.

It had its ups and downs. I think I just had inflated hopes because it was Alan Moore. In a small window though this volume introduced a great team of characters, and had a big crazy Victorian adventure.

don't like the art, but the story is interesting, even though some of the characters annoyed me a bit too much... let's see if the 2nd volumen gets better :)

Masterfully brought together and a comic that I sometimes recommend to non-comic fans who have a literary bent.
When I think of things that would blow my mind with amazingness, one of them is a pre-2000 Terry Gilliam LoEG film.

This was an interesting and enjoyable graphic novel, although it pales in comparison to The [b:Watchmen|472331|Watchmen|Alan Moore|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1175041710s/472331.jpg|4358649] -- Moore's masterpiece -- which was both deeper and more beautifully drawn.

This one just didn't do it for me. Not interesting, sexist and gross.
