I was so excited for Dax and Alexis's story! Alexis always intrigued me. I loved getting a look inside her mind, and the interactions she had with Dax were perfectly executed.
Dax's need for a fake fiance is fortuitous. When Alexis agrees to what she thinks is one dinner as such, it seems like a good trade off. But then he needs more. A whole ten days on a cruise. The spicy kisses, the one-bed/forced proximity, and the accidental poisoning were all so good! I didn't like how Alexis jumped to conclusions when Lilith called, and I did think that was a little unrealistic, but I loved the outcome and the end. Can't wait for Kennedy's story!

Hands down, my favorite book in the California Dreamin’ series! Alexis, Dax and their story drew me in immediately and their chemistry was on FIRE! Not to mention, much of the story takes place on a cruise ship – how fun!
HIGHLIGHTS:
Fake engagement · Office enemies to lovers · Vibrant personalities (and hair!) · Tough backgrounds · A Carribean cruise · A shared bed · A job interview · A common goal · Simmering chemistry!
This story couldn’t have been more fun to read! I simply couldn’t put it down. I was immediately drawn in by Alexis’ snarky personality and introverted ways. She reminded me a lot of myself and was easily relatable. Dax had me captivated from the beginning with his smooth demeanor and the author did a great job revealing little bits of his personality at a time, making him the perfect swoon-worthy match for Alexis. There was a raw side to each of the characters that gave this story depth and made it raw. Throw in a mutual if-you-help-me, I’ll-help-you arrangement, some hilarious scenes, the characters’ personal growth and a tropical cruise and THIS STORY WAS PERFECT. I loved it. Can’t rave it about enough. Go ahead, just read it!

Another fun installment in a great series. I liked Alexis and the layer of her finally dealing with her past-that added a little extra to the story. The cruise setting was cool too. Enjoyed this one!
Sadly this was a bit boring. There wasn’t anything unique about it. Just a bunch of popular tropes thrown around with not much else.
- She has an office “enemy” who is actually just a man who has worked there less time than her and is more successful so she automatically hates him… because obviously him being a man is the only reason he gets better accounts than her. Not that her boss literally told her she needs to learn and do better in order to gain those accounts herself.
- He’s hot, she’s quirky with wild hair colors!
- He’s applying for a job where the heads of the company are looking for family men only so he makes up a fake fiancé. …because this is actually a thing.
- She agrees to be his fake fiancé and they end up having to go on vacation where there’s…gasp! Only one bed!
- They had to pretend to be in love to impress his future bosses and… wait for it… end up actually falling in love. Yawn.
Honestly that’s it. The characters were flat and the story has been done a million times.
