the idea was great, and some of the reflections were interesting, but it was poorly executed. the exploration of evilness & religion as a tool to oppress rightfully oppressed women was really interesting, and the book wasn’t bad so i was invested & didn’t contemplate not finish it. still the characters felt one dimensional, the racial ambiguity of some of the characters went too far, which i didn’t like, and the ending felt really rushed.

Interesting young adult horror thriller about a cursed school and students who try to solve the truth. I wished the queer aspect would have been in the core more, but on the other hand, I liked how it developed through the book gradually.

I was a bit surprised by how dark character Alice was. Especially her thoughts were very cruel at times. I found Alice's personality both fascinating and scary.

I rly enjoyed this 90s dark academia, sapphic twist on dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde. Alice and Lottie were so loveable - a bubbly sunshine and a grumpy midnight rain, a Perf enemies to lovers caught up in a supernatural curse and occult possession. All while being an excellent examination of female rage and male power - essential reading for angry adolescent girls xx
