Why the two stars? Well... it's not as bad as some say. I mean, I've read worse (mostly on ff.net). It was entertaining, back in the day when this was my introduction to the dangerous, attractive alpha male. Hey, we've all been there. Don't deny it.

Fortunately, as the series began its downward spiral into genuinely disturbing and controlling behavior and general WTFery, I began to see the light.

I don't know what world I was in when I first read this series. I was 16 maybe, refused to follow the trend of Twilight, but failed and enjoyed the books. Not gonna lie I was hooked at some point. This was during a time where I stopped reading and these books actually got me back into reading. Now looking back at these stories YEARS later, I realized how terrible a heroine Bella is, how sick New Moon is, how unrealistic their love is. (yes I know its fiction AND YA, but I mean, c'mon, you know what I mean) This series did have its good point, I wont deny it that, but over all, besides it re-sparking my interest in reading, I realize how sucky they are.
