I absolutely loved this!! It introduced the magic and creatures so well, I instantly felt connected to Alexandra and her relationship with the captain.  The artwork is also beautiful.   Every page was a treat to look at.  So happy we read this for comic book club cause idk if I would have picked it up on my own.   Will def read more and watch the anime on Netflix

Interesting concept, kind of Sherlock Holmes but make it magical and instead of Watson there are loyal assassins. I can dig it.

Got into these books by the netflix anime. The mangas themselves are really good horror and they're drawn really well. I love the episodic noir fantasy stories and am looking forward to read more!!

This is a perfect graphic novel to read when you don't have a lot of extra time. Each case are fairly short and easy, especially with the information about each mythological beings at the end of each case. The art matches the tone of the story very well, and I think it helps getting into the story easier.

It's also a great introduction to the different mythologies in the Philippines.

Most memorable quote:
"(..) as the universe seeks balance, so does the underworld"

I'm very curious as to what the next volumes will bring, and I'm kind of hoping that there will be more information about the Kambal boys, and Alexandra Tresse.

I'm also very excited to see what the Netflix adaption will bring to the table!!

Pretty interesting paranormal/horror/mythical comic series based on spirits found in the streets of Manila.

Alexandra Trese serves as a sort of special private investigator, accompanied by two "spirits" (?) (one in a happy mask and another in a sad mask), who is called in to solve strange crimes.

Art was pretty cool (Sin City-esque) and the issues do a good job of being quick oners where you don't have to have read the previous issue to get into it.

**FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC**

-Stories with standard connecting narrative
-Nitpick: No table of contents inside. Maybe due to narrative structure, just like the last one, but the stories here are still divided so a TOC is still appreciated.
-I want to know more on how the police covers up large scale paranormal incidents. As of now, no further info on this matter. I guess there's a system based on Alexandra's relationship with Capt. Guerrero and their predecessors but it's not enough for me.
-A character with an I.M. initials is very good. The fiction character, not the real one who is very much the opposite of what I said.
-Neatpick: Cute hairstyle of Alexandra.
-Action sequences are so much better. The choreography is understandable and clean.
-Magic system is very soft, just like a Japanese fluffy pancake. Might have future plot holes if the line between life and death  became much blurred in the future. There are already some magic here that raised my eyebrows but I glossed over like the actual ending for Talagbusao because it's still creative, in my opinion.
-Typhoon tribe. I have soooo many questions. Hopefully they will be explored more in future narratives. If not, such a shame since based on the lore the author created, their tribe should be bigger especially with how they got their powers.
-Overall, I still like this one and made me want future stories.
