Reading this book now felt surreal. It feels like our society has learned nothing, like the present is just one more page in a story that hasn't progressed very much. We're still having the same arguments.

Well-researched and powerful book about the tragedy that occurred at Kent State. After hearing it won the Odyssey Award, I listened to the audiobook and found it read like a play. It was captivating and immersive. I think this could be a good book to add to a unit on the 1st Amendment. A good intro for middle grade but interesting enough for all ages. I liked the prelude and the end notes, good bookends to the story.
