“The Monk Who Became Chief Minister” by Shantanu Gupta is a biography of a boy “Ajay Bisht” who left his Hometown “uttarakhand” and his family in order to become a hindu monk and got succeeded in joining Gorakhnath math but it was just a beggining of his life’s journey and later on he joined Bhartiya janta party (BJP) and Became the chief minister of Uttar pradesh, The man, the Yogi of which I am talking about is none other Yogi Adityanath. Shantanu pens down the Book into four sections, first section talks about Yogi as a chief minister, second section talks about Yogi becoming five times member of parliament from Gorakhpur, third section is about yogi serving as a mahant and fourth section is all about his childhood.
The Book depicts the Another side of Yogi Ji, How he faced obstacles, left Home, joined nath parampara, Role of Rss in his life and How he became chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and his role in Indian Politics. Book is Based on Facts, his Speeches, his friend’s opinions about him, it can be said that author had done good research on his life.
The Book's strength lies in its Details but sometimes it feels that the book is missing its fludity overall I loved reading it. The narration was very captivating and engaging.

Great read. I liked the structure of the book. We get to know a good deal of all the political decisions that Yogi Adityanath has taken with the reason behind it. Although it seems like few parts are written in order to whitewash his image, majority of the book is unbiased. The only thing which I didn't like are the speech transcripts. Instead of explaining the context of his various speeches, the author has copy pasted speeches directly and left it on the reader to comprehend.
