3.5 ⭐️ this was really cute. that being said, it was also reallyyyy predictable. overall, it gave bridget jones vibes but without the laugh-out-loud-hilarious moments. i am always hard to please with a straight-up romance, but if you love the genre, you’ll prob really love this!

I got the full range of emotions and opinions while reading this book to the point where it actually got me to cry (a rarity for me with books). I went in thinking this was going to be just your run of the mill rom-com and ended with this becoming one of my favorite books. A perfect combo of every romance trope plus the discussion of what makes a fulfilling life.

I'll just say it: I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
It's been a while since I got so hooked on a romance book
But I mean, it's my favorite magical realism, so I knew I'd like it!

Saying I loved this book feels like an understatement, it was everything I needed to pull me out of my reading slump.

When I first read the blurb, I thought, This sounds like the perfect remedy for a cliché romance. It seemed typical and predictable. Boy, was I wrong.

This story is anything but stereotypical. The romance? Absolutely chef’s kiss. The twists and turns? Perfection. Greenwood manages to surprise you when you least expect it, keeping you hooked from beginning to end. The themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience shine through without ever feeling heavy-handed.

The novel is told from Delphie’s perspective, and let me tell you, she is so real. Her humor and realism feel natural, unlike the forced humor you often see in other books. Delphie’s awkwardness and inner thoughts are so relatable, making her a character you can’t help but root for. Greenwood’s writing perfectly captures Delphie’s voice.

The other characters? They leave their mark too. Each one feels purposeful and memorable, contributing to the narrative in meaningful ways.

If you’re looking for a book that will pull you out of your reading slump, make you laugh, and leave you smiling, grab The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood. You won’t regret it.

Cute, a little silly and over the top, but the grumpy heroine and enemies to lovers trope kept me entertained
