I thoroughly enjoyed this book! You would think that a book about digging holes everyday would get tedious, but Sachar’s use of intertwining the narratives of Kate and Sam, and Elya and Madame Zeroni was a great way to break up the repetition. I wasn’t expecting all of the different stories in this book, but I enjoyed how they all managed to tie in together. My only complaint is that the ending feels very rushed. We spend so much time building the plot and climax, and the conclusion leaves us with little to nothing. There were a lot of stories left unfinished, questions left unanswered. But all in all, this was a very surprising and enjoyable read! I flew through it!
