Eu quase dei 4,5 pra esse livro no começo/metade da segunda parte por sentir que a autora quebrava um pouco o clima quando começava a falar de outras pessoas que estavam na festa. Mas na verdade terminou não sendo tão incomodativo assim. O final do livro foi sensacional, essa história me fez sentir muitas coisas, talvez senti mais coisas do que em outros livros dela, mas ainda não consigo decidir onde esse se encaixaria no top 3 junto com Daisy Jones e Evelyn Hugo, mas com certeza vai ter um lugar muito especial no meu coração. Queria deixar mais coisa registrada mas não consigo falar sobre tudo o que eu senti e achei dessa história. Já to extremamente ansioso pro próximo livro da autora.
I didn’t think this was a bad book by any means, but definitely not my fave TJR.
Characters were great, although I sometimes felt there were too many to truly focus on the journeys of those I cared about.
It felt really anticlimactic? I got to the end and was like… that’s it?

I honestly really enjoyed this read. Though it didn’t have the climax I was hoping for, I was intrigued the entire story and it was really easy to keep reading. The writing was well done and fast paced and I really enjoyed how the plot switched from present to past. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an easy summer read!

I hope this makes sense, but I felt like this was an 80s surfer version of East of Eden. This book caught me by surprise - I only read it because it was “available now” on Libby. It was gorgeous. The setting is a character in and of itself.
