Really solid follow-up to the first book. Triana's writing is good, if a little wordy and verging on purple at times. He's also great at crafting characters with interesting layers, and I have to admit I'm still pretty enthralled by the River Man himself.

Grim and bleak, but unfortunately a step down from the original. Check your Content Warnings... it's rough.

Triana knows how to write disturbing characters well.

Felt like Gary was just shoehorned in for plot though, he didn't contribute anything to the end game.

I, uh, I don't know. This was brutal, weird, morbid. Too many vile descriptions that felt unnecessary. Every single character was unlikeable in their own way. Don't forget the amount of POVs, it confused me more than it added to the story.
I liked the first book a lot more.
