Great reminder how we can survive with just the bear minimal, and everything else is not necessary.
Make no mistake, this is tedious and difficult. It has its moments, but much of it is tough going. Why use five words to say something when you can use 25? And then repeat? Seriously though, it's a great adventure story. Robinson at once is both incredibly resourceful, the recipient of amazing good fortune, and unbelievably cursed with bad luck out at sea. Along the way, he learns faith and morality as he attempts to bring a sense of civility and society to his cast away empire threated by cannibals, mutineers and the simple challenge to survive. Worth reading for sure, but you must persevere.

Arguably the first novel ever written. It's worth a read - in modern terms it's kind of like the movie Castaway. But be ready for lists of foods eaten, observations and entries of activities done today on a deserted island!
along with Moby Dick this was one of the hardest books I ever had to slog through
I LOVED this book! I read a extremely watered-down version as a kid and couldn't wait to read the real book! I love survival stories. :)
