*3.5* I loved the first book in the series. This one started out really well, slogged slowly through the middle, and last 5% exploded in your face. Not a whole lot happened in this second story. A couple people hooked up, there was one slightly tame intimate scene, and lots of talk about gardening, showers, and food.

This author writes such a wonderful dialogue! It's mature, it's hilarious, it's insightful and heartfelt. I want to give this book 5 stars simply because I love these characters, and I love their development. However, the ending was so rushed, the middle slogged, and I really would have liked more steam.

*Sight spoiler

I don't understand why the main characters were so clueless about what was happening, especially since they knew sabotage was a possibility. It really didn't make since considering what they KNEW what Boone (and his minions) was capable of.

Rose, Tom, Holly, Clara, Mitch & Craig are all safe in the fairgrounds but living on top of hundreds of other survivors leads to tensions. Tensions that are made worse by the safe-zones military leaders.

They are making the most of it, just doing their best but before long they find themselves once again fighting for their lives.

World Between has been a long time coming. Well maybe I've been holding out for it so it seems like it's been a long time coming. Whatever, this book delivers. So happy to read this book and looking forward to the audiobook which I believe will be arriving some time around March.

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated

I enjoy a good zombie romp. This one was a little too much slow burn,  “what if they don’t really like me?” internal dialogues, and relationship drama - not nearly enough zombies doing zombie things.

The slow burn with Clary and Jesse was just… too much. Y’all are grown adults acting like middle schoolers. Zombies are out there eating people and Clary couldn’t have just sucked it up and said, “yeah actually I like you, no big deal if you don’t return my feelings” … and then they could’ve had that getting together scene in chapter one. Instead every chapter from her perspective was torturous. Also there was far too much of Rose’s internal negativity toward her own body that I didn’t appreciate. If that’s going to be there, I feel like there needs to be something that addresses that body negativity to say ‘No, actually, you *don’t* have to lose 10 pounds before having sex with someone you like.’

This book continues the journey of Rose Winters and her family as they find their way in the post apocalyptic world filled with zombies…. The one thing Sarah Lyons Fleming does so well is her characters — they feel real, like friends like family…. These books are full of adventure and took a turn I wasn’t expecting but loved it — my only gripe is the ending cliffhanger.

Really liked this book.
The Hero and heroine are married to other people.
The Hero's wife dies pretty quickly.
The heroine's husband is in a different location for the first part of book 1

They both are intimate with their marriage partners but it's very vague.
The couple's are friends so they all knew each other before the event.

Side stories with other characters.
Don't get too fond of anyone.
Quite a bit of violence, fighting off zombies.

Tbc.
