šŸ„° Friends to Lovers
šŸ”® Fantasy Rom-Com
šŸ§ Oblivious Mutual Pining

Iā€™m pretty sure Arek and Matt are the definition of oblivious friends to lovers, throw in some slow burn mutual pining and itā€™s them.

I really enjoyed this book, the world-building and setting was written really well.  It almost gave off a contemporary vibe in a fantasy world.  Yes, there was magic and a king but it was easy and fun to read.  These are the kind of fantasy books I want to read more of.

I loved the vibes of this book, the friendships, the chaotic nature of some of the characters, the romance, and the humor.   It was so lovely.

Having such high stakes for such young characters made me.. uncomfortable. I wish there had been a loophole in the enchantment rather than simply straightforwardly fulfilling it.

Aside from that it was a perfectly lovely story. The slow burn was torturous, the writing was beautifully flippant, the worldbuilding was complex enough to be fun without overshadowing the romance. I loved the conceit of starting after the adventure, but I came to love the characters so much that now I want a prequel.

This book is a delightful fantasy rom-com full of inconvenient magic, endearing characters, and a quick moving plot. There's marry-or-die, pining, and miscommunications, but the book never loses it's lighthearted tone.

I adored this book so much. It was an amazing read and I highly recommend that everyone who enjoys books about magic and love and friendship read it.

The reason I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5 was because of
Matt up and leaving Arek when he knows he is going to die if he doesnā€™t find his soul mate. Like I get it furthers the plot and links it back to the princessā€™s journal, and I know that he did it because it would be too painful to see him marry another person, but wouldnā€™t you stay until he found someone just incase?!?? He nearly didnā€™t make it back in time and I was sobbing because of it!

But enough about thatā€¦. Fantastically written (if you couldnā€™t tell by how emotional I got in my rant) and will a million percent be reading any and all other books by this wonderful author.
