Two separate people cartwheeled off a cliff in this book. It actually says the words, "a perfect cartwheel to his death." I think that is all one needs to know about this book.

I'm not a die hard fear street fan, In fact I have read very few of them so maybe it's not strange I didn't have much strong feelings for this story. It's a low 3 stars. Not bad but didn't work for me. Didn't find the two weddings decades apart that exciting not even with the curse. Have to look further for an horror series for me

3.5
I"'m a Fear. Dark sides and weirdness are our birthright."

"Do nightmares really exist in the daytime?"

"How pleasing to control people without their knowledge, to manipulate them with just candlelight and words and songs."

So that was... interesting. I didn't hate it - and it definitely kept my interest - but most of what happened was more funny than scary.
I'd have liked a bit more of the serious conflicts to have been resolved in the end though. The sisters' relationship was just SO bad - but we're supposed to believe that barely a year and a half later they're fine? With how hostile Marissa was to Harmony, I feel like that really should have been shown a lot more. Also - Marissa's issues with Harmony were pretty paranoid - "You want to be me!" because her little sister borrowed her clothes while she was away at school? Bit extreme

Without going too much into spoilers, there was a lot in this book that didn't make a ton of sense and really needed to be explored a bit more. Not a terrible read - but could've used another draft

This Fear Street reboot definitely calls back to the previous series. The family curse between the Fears and Goods is alive and well but now set in the 1920's and closer to present day. The book was reminiscent of the trilogy series of the curse's origins but lacking in the gruesome horror and deep running hatred between the families. The book is kind of bland when compared to the original Fear Street novels. There's no drama, cheesy lines, and the deaths that do occur within the book are anti-climatic and boring. This book was a decent read but it's no rival to the original Fear Street series.

How is it possible to have that same on the edge feeling, that page turning frenzy to unravel the mystery all these years later, almost 20 years later!? Nostalgia at its best. Love RL STINE and love this revival series!

(3.5) Cute is probably not an appropriate adjective for this book and yet here we are.
