Ms. Harris has outdone herself on this book! I can’t accurately convey how much I love Leland and Franklin. If you’re read Bad Wrong Things and liked the filthy, feral, possessive lover that Clint was with Raven, you are going to LOVE Franky.

Ok so if the first half of this book had have been like the last half, this rating probably would have been much higher.

I stayed for Leland and Leland only because Franky was kind of an ass. The relationship was extremely obsessive and all consuming but at the same time, the love didn't feel genuine at all. Once we got into the second half, though and Cole joined the chat, this became incrementally better. Lele finally started standing up for himself, and Franky got what he deserved. I'm not sure if it was the instalove that threw me off in the beginning, but it is later corrected by the angst in the second half.

I will say some of the sex scenes in this were just too much for my sensory issues. I love cumplay as much as the next gal, but IT IS NOT A CONDIMENT

"I waited for him for nineteen whole days, with nothing to nourish me but fleeting hope. I waited, and he never came.
He never chose me."

When I found out book 2 in the Infidelity series was going to be about Cole and Jasper's father along with Coles best friend, I was utterly shocked. I couldn't imagine how two men who seemed so different could have a story such as theirs. But that's where I got it wrong in my imagination. There may be 20 years between them, but Franky and Leland are not so different after all. In fact, it was their similarities that drew them together in the first place.

"It was easier with Franky because he seemed as lost as me. And sometimes, it was nice to have a little company as you found your way."

I loved how their relationship started off as a blooming friendship. To be honest, they both had dreams in the back of their mind of having more with one another, but it didn't stop them from becoming the other's person to count on. They had a kinship these two. They saw the pain in one another's eyes that nobody else did because nobody else had bothered to really look. Or maybe it was because like recognizes like. Either way, the result is the same. Franky and Leland formed a bond that proved couldn't be broken, even after hearts were left shattered along the way.

The circumstances of their separation were brutal, even though I knew it was coming and why after having read book 1. And though I felt terrible for Franky being put in that position, it was Leland who broke my heart the most. The man who Franky affectionately called Leelee Bear and said was made of sunshine no longer shined in any way. It wasn't until Leland's friendship with Cole began that he started to dig his way out of the shadows. It made me sad because even though Cole became his best friend, Leland could never share the truth of himself. He would always have to keep the biggest part of how he came to be who he was a secret. It had to make him feel incredibly alone.

"I didn't want to know him anymore. I didn't want to love him anymore."

It took a lot for the MCs to finally get to a place where the time was finally right. Throughout it all they never stopped loving one another, even when they desperately wished they could. Franky was it for Leland the moment he fell in love with him and nothing he tried was ever going to change that. Franky realized he had to grow as a person before he could ever think to gain Leland's forgiveness for what he'd done to them and I respected that about him. I also rejoiced when they jumped the last hurdle and were finally free to love one another without anything holding them back. After everything, Franky and Leland deserved that and more.

OVERALL REVIEW:
"The Fisherman" by CP Harris was an amazing written novel that i’m definitely giving a big 5/5 stars. From beginning to end, it kept me totally hooked. Sometimes novels spanning over years can get a little meh, but this totally had me in it the whole time. C.P Harris’ books… jaw-dropping and amazing. Always a rec for me.

I really loved how we got a look into the friendship between Leland and Cole. If you haven’t read the first part, i’d recommend reading before reading this one to fully grasp the concept of this story!

OVERALL RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Fishermen

Franklin and Leland

I was super excited about the release and reading this as I hadn't long ago read book one. I was curious as to the when and how these two could possibly be connected to one another. The author did an amazing job of making you feel every bit of their happiness and heartache. Their love story was definitely a journey. I loved the possessiveness these two would show for one another. It was a bit wild at moments, lol.

I haven’t read the first book of the series, but I was able to follow along very easily to the storyline. Overall I enjoyed the book and enjoyed the depth of the characters and their development throughout the book.

I rate it a 4-star because I thought the pacing was a little up and down. There were moments where I feel like it dragged on a bit but also some moments where it feels like it was rushed and I wanted to explore that scene more.

The angst, the yearning, and the passion behind the characters was top notch!

Would I recommend to others? Absolutely! Would I reread again? Probably not. Did I enjoy the book? Overall, I honestly did.

This was my first C.P. Harris book but definitely not my last!
