A very cute Christmas novella with a grumpy earl and a cute dog. What’s not to like?
The development of the relationship was fast (it is a novella) but still felt natural.
A few things were a little too modern; not an uncommon complaint in historical romance. But it wasn’t egregious.

The Earl's Christmas Pearl is a delicious little nugget of a novella. It's a few days before Christmas and Lady Pearl discovers that she is alone. She's been left behind by her mother and the servants have the holiday off. She's overjoyed - never has she been alone. But she soon finds being alone isn't all it's cracked up to be when there's no food in the house. Luckily, there's a handsome, grumpy, Welsh earl spending the holiday alone in the house next door...

This is a quick read, full of Christmas spirit. I was delighted by the grumpy earl and by Mr. Shorty. I loved Pearl's sense of adventure. It's just the thing to ease into the holiday season when the snow is starting to fall.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Edelweiss.

Lady Pearl is the daughter and sister no one ever notices, which means she gets left behind in her family's London home after a large shopping trip. With no servants and no food in the house, she appeals to her grumpy neighbor, the Earl of Llanover for assistance. He's alone in London with only his Corgi Mr. Shorty for company, in order to recover from a leg injury he sustained on his Welsh sheep farm. While trying to maintain propriety, the two share the holiday season and fall in love while getting to know one another and getting snowed in.

Really cute and steamy novella, a fun read for the season. I think if the characters had known each other even a little bit before the novella begins it would have helped strengthen their truly whirlwind romance.

I received a free copy in exchange for a fair review.
