This was such a great read. Darling just wants to survive, but she doesn't want to keep doing the same things to do it. Talon is trying his best to end a war and bring peace to their lands, ending  the battle that's start has been long forgotten by those fighting.

A forgotten heir, secret magic, and pure chaos and violence ensue. Darling and Talon grow closer, Caspian grows madder, and Aurora  goes through with a chain of events that shock us all.

Great character development and storytelling, and an absolutely amazing unexpected twist at the end.

Pleasantly surprised by this book but I have yet to be disappointed by a book Justina Ireland writes. I think there were a lot of parts that could have been fleshed out, but it was a lot of fun. And it also left on a cliff hanger, I'll be interested to see if there's going to be more.

This book started off pretty slow for me, so I read reviews here on Storygraph to help me decide whether I would continue with the book. I'm glad I did! All the people who said, "that ending, tho," I see what you mean now. I think the worldbuilding is pretty fascinating, and I'm looking forward to book 2.

It is unusual for me to read a book which is aimed at a younger age group - sadly I am at the point where I am definitely not the target audience :(

However...

I loved this series.

Chaos and Flame is a fabulous book - it's action packed, has a unique magic system and characters who I really rooted for. The plot was interesting and kept me gripped. With it being YA, the pace was quite quick and we saw plenty of action throughout the book but I really appreciated that.

The ending was such a mean cliffhanger that I was incredibly grateful to have a proof of Blood and Fury to follow this up so I didn't have to wait to read it.

Moving on to Blood & Fury, this book is a seamless transition from the first book and absolutely lived up the high standards set by Book 1.

The storyline of this book is just as good as the first and we still have plenty of action to keep us interested.

We get to know the characters even more and I really enjoyed growing to understand them more.

The world in which this book is set is really interesting - this book offered a fab conclusion to the series.

A thoroughly enjoyable read
