This was the typical cute, easy shifter romance that I've come to expect from Eve Langlais. I love picking up one of her books when I've finished something especially dark because hers are always light and fun and full of sassy heroines with big attitudes.
When an Alpha Purrs features the egotistical hero, Arik who is not used to anyone not jumping at his every command. He gets what and who he wants every time. Until the day he goes for a mane trim and meets a sassy human woman who has no intention of being walked all over.
Having just left a rather bad relationship, Kira has no problem telling the grumpy man waiting for a haircut where to shove his attitude. Then she promptly hacks off his hair and runs for it.
Kira was a strong heroine intent on not backing down from something she had no hope of ever handling on her own. While I liked that aspect of her personality I liked it even more when she finally let Arik help her as their relationship grew. I did think that for as much fuss as she created over the fact that he was a shifter, she got over that real fast when she was in danger. I loved the constant back and forth these two shared throughout the book. I found myself laughing quite often as Kira continually shot Arik down with one liners. For a man who wasn't used to such a personality, he was humbled a time or two but never discouraged.
I look forward to more from this world as I have in the past from Langlais.
I give When an Alpha Purrs by Eve Langlais 3.75 stars!

So, Arik is an arrogant CEO. Kira is a feisty woman who definitely stands up for herself.
But a dangerous ex is lurking, trying to ensnare Kira.
A good PNR with muchly growly possessiveness - he literaly says 'rawr' often. And 'meowr' when sad (so sweet!).
Kinda wish I'd seen more of Arik in lion form.
He keeps her locked up for protection, which felt a bit uncomfortable tbh.
I loved the banter/snark. The steam scenes were...steamy.
An enjoyable, quick read, typical of its genre.

Cute premise but I didn’t really connect with the male lead or their relationship.
3.5. We picked this as our "April Fools" book club read (aka, something that's odd/bad/so-bad-it's-good). I don't read many shifter or paranormal romances, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one.
I'm not sure if I'll read the others in the series, but I had fun with this one! There are some cringe-worthy cheesy moments (lots of roaring and "MINE" declarations--also, "Arik" backwards is "Kira"), but overall this is an entertaining, fairly light (TW: stalking, abuse in a relationship) and quick (I finished it in a day) read. I like that Kira stands up for herself and doesn't submit to Arik's alpha nature.

Enjoyed this, the banter and chemistry between the main characters was good
Nice, but too short.
Cute and funny. Way too short. Would've liked a bit more interaction with the rest of the pride and a bun in Kira's oven. Nice start to a new series.

Made it a third of the way in. I just don't like this couple at all. It doesn't have the normal witty snap of Ms. Langlais others books.
Plus Arik, the romantic lead, is a complete narcissistic jerk - like most cats. And while it is endearing in creatures 5 pounds, a very large man throwing his weight around - and his money/power - knowing people can't say no - not so much.
