Didn’t expect to like this book so much, but I found the narrative history to be so ridiculous, disappointing, reflective, and insightful.

Really well written, thoughtful and sometimes emotional (more so than expected).

i read this for the first time during the 2020 lockdown while i was dipping my toes into the world of basketball. the year before, i had sat through a tornado at a job that paid $8.50/hr thinking about how i’d better not get docked pay for not working while it rained inside the building, and also how much it would suck to die surrounded by people i’d known for a month. the first time i read this book, i cried for the last 2 parts, but my eyes are dry this time, and i still love this book!
