My first read of 2025 is the story of a group of kiddos who all find themselves at a wellness retreat (with and without their families) for the summer. After banding together to care for a rogue lizard (pets not allowed), the crew uncover a big secret about one of the leaders at the camp. Crammed full of candy, lizards, and boat-jacking, this is another cute story by Gordon Korman, but it is not as memorable as some of his others.
Korman's latest deserves better than the GR score representing it, as it is a fun friend-finding adventure with plenty of plot to keep your interest. The trouble comes from convincing the reader to buy into one of the world's richest kids as a protagonist, the increasingly noticeable lack of race, and...Needles. What's obvious to readers from the cover is weirdly ignored by the characters, and I think it's throwing off a lot of readers.
Also, Notorious was an excellent book and it will always be hard to follow that up.

It was an okay book. Kept my attention enough to finish but not necessarily a book I’d recommend as a must read.
Another enjoyable book by this author! I thought the readers on the audiobook were especially good this time!
Another great middle grade mystery by Gordon Korman. This one has a good mix of humor and mystery that will appeal to today's tech-centered kids.
