“I don’t think we’re really mad. At least, not at each other. There’s just no one else we’re allowed to yell at.”

Really like a 4.5 or greater. All good books make you think and see things from different aspects. If you only read things that affirm you right now and never question or have something or someone show a different side to the same situation, you as a person cannot grow. This book showed growth in characters that makes it not only an enjoyable read, but a reflective one as well. Well done!!

This is a cute YA, focused on identity, conformity, gender, power, and relationships. I really enjoyed the methods the HA group used to express themselves, but I was disappointed with the end. It felt rushed and too happy. The idea that our actions and speech should have consequences seems too tidy and unrealistic. Up until the last 20 pages I enjoyed it, though. I will still recommend it as a strong choice reading option for my sophomores.

I felt like this was pretty good, in the end I think I struggled to connect with Micheal because at the end of the day he is a straight teenage boy, and straight teenage boys do really stupid things. This book did make me laugh out loud, but a lot of Micheal’s choices were deeply frustrating, and I don’t know that I believe he truly grew from them. Honestly ending probably brought my rating down 0.5 stars,

4 stars. Audiobook.

This was a heartwarming book that wasn't afraid to talk about difficult issues. I loved our main character with all my heart and I felt all the feels when his world came crashing down around him. I liked how the book didn't tell you how to feel about anything specific. It just laid out both sides of the issues and let you make your own opinions. I feel quite strongly about Christianity so I found this book made me think about my own biases too.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to do a bit of soul searching while having fun.

I hated this book from the joke about nooses on the third page and it only got a little better.

A book primarily about questioning your beliefs and authority, it also centers on very strong friendships that develop from shared interests. Good food for thought.
