I could not put this book down. Although not an atheist, I could relate to this book I’m so many ways. When surrounded by overly religious people in your life and you’re not sure what to believe, sometimes you need something to help guide you. This book addressed many issues with religion and the ending was perfect.

This book opens up talk about things which aren't discussed usually. Things that are personal and emotional. It makes the topic of beliefs, tolerance, and understanding is easily approachable by diluting them with the young growing characters, which is good because who can talk about growth if not someone who is growing themselves. The romantic, friendship, and high school sides of the story are cute.

I'm not sure if this is intended to be a YA novel or not. It had good points regarding the discussion of religion in today's society. But it also wasn't that great of a read... not really engaging or interesting, I mostly just finished it because I hate leaving a book unfinished once I start. If this was intended as a YA I'd give it higher marks.

Wow. Just wow. This books blew me away. I loved every one of the main characters and I think it was super important to read. You get to see how different people view religion; and how even just 2 people from the same religion can view it differently. Wow.

this was a good read!! although i think the hype ruined it for me. i feel like i was was expecting more than what i really got. i could relate at times because i raised catholic so seeing similarities to my childhood was interesting. i liked the characters even though lucy got on my nerves during the last half of the book. she was a bit dramatic at times. i really likes the group dynamic and how they were all so supportive of each other. overall not a favorite but a good book!!

It's like Vigilante Poets' of Selwyn Academy but good.

A group of fun and quirky characters who aren't that far from normal, but in a strict Catholic school, find that any minor deviation immediately marks them as unsavory or outcasts. As if young adulthood isn't bad enough on it's own - full of awkwardness and growing pains, larger than life emotions, and tumultuous family relationships - not having a say in anything that happens to you feels like the biggest slap in the face. And it seems like the one thing that could actually be changed, if only they could convince people to listen.

Forming an anonymous club known only as the Heretics Anonymous, a few friends try to get the people around them to take notice... What's with all of the arbitrary rules and regulations about what people wear? What about incorporating scientific based sex-education instead of misinformed religious dogma into the curriculum? There's a lot hypocrisy and sexism in the school that needs to be addressed, why doesn't anyone take these issues seriously?... No one is stopping to listen or take the student's complaints seriously - so they decide that perhaps drastic actions will get them the attention they need. Maybe then people will take time to stop and think for themselves.

A coming of age story for misfits who just want their voices heard in the world.
