Is so rare for me to give 5 stars to a book were there aren't any dragon, siren, magic or at less a spaceship. But here I am.
I went to a Catholic school since I was 12 years old until I graduate at 18. I had nuns as teachers, daily prayers and a strict dress code as well. So I was comparing my experience with Michael's all the time.
All the different opinions of the characters regarding Catholic religion were very on point and interesting. There were a lot of critics at religion but it didn't feel offensive at any time, actually it was a very funny book! it make me laugh a lot.
“Well, if you’re going to ignore the fact that most of those women chose to die rather than do what other people told them to, then I think you’re pretty close to blasphemy.”

This was fun. I can't remember the last time I read a YA from a teen boy's POV, so that was different for me. I loved all the Catholic facts, but I felt a little overwhelmed by everything that happened to Michael at once: Michael and Lucy // teens vs school // Michael vs dad.
This review contains a minor vague spoiler
A freaking Plus, especially as a K-12 catholic school kid. I wish we did those things in the book that weren't explicitly against the rules but bc the rules were vague... Oh well, I have a friend with a sister in senior yr of hs now, maybe she could...

3.5* (WHICH IS STILL GOOD, 3'S ARE GREAT) bc I'm indecisive and can't decide between a 3 or a 4 hehe oops
Anyways, I was entertained throughout the story, it was a fun read. I loved seeing the different methods used to tackle the problems in their school. I thought it was interesting to see different people's POV in regards to religion and whatnot. My favourite character is definitely Max. What a carefree guy, I'd love to have a cloak too.
