A side character is one of the best representations of a modern neo-pagan that I've ever seen in fiction. The rest is a really excellent interrogation of religion, atheism, and the ways we can all be kinder to one another in cross-belief conversations - as well as how we can build systems that are more just to everyone.
I can’t even express the important topics this book begins to discuss. I can’t put into words the appreciation I felt for the journey Micheal went on throughout this story.
This book is at its heart about a young boy going to a catholic school and feeling like he’s an outcast in a sea of believers in god. It’s about how being a teenager and how finding people who love you for you, is always worth it, despite the differences in belief.
My favourite part of this story is that Micheal learns that belief is personal and even if not understood should always be respected. But also that no one, not even your teachers or your friends have a right to dictate your beliefs and those who really care accept you for all you are, beliefs in all.

Easy to read, humorous story about Catholic school, religion, and the discovery of belief.
Great voice. Plenty of wit and humor. Overall, a good read.
Cute, and pretty funny. Ends as expected; typical YA.
