adventurous mysterious medium-paced

an unconventional fairytale but a beautiful fairytale all the same. heartfelt, frank, humorous & full of signature Gaiman prose and wonder. I’ve reread this book many times, especially when life gets a little too dreary & un-magical for me. a delightful story, I probably finished this in one day.

i liked it but i wish it was longer-

Listened to on audiobook - narrated by the author.  An enjoyable, fairy-tale styled listen

I really enjoyed this book. I actually listened to it and wow, I would recommend listing to a Neil Gaiman book. I loved hearing the characters voices as he portrayed them. It really makes the book come to life! I thought Tristen was a great main character, he was quirky and very entertaining. He took everything so calmly and nothing seemed to faze him! It was a cute romance but the ending was a bit sad. I did feel like the book started off sort of slow, but I was loving it by the end. I think this book is definitely written for older young adults. Near the beginning there are a few sexual scenes that kind of made me laugh and wonder what they were doing in a young adult book lol.

Violence: 2- There are a few bloody parts but nothing is really explicit or gross. A few people get stabbed. The usual.

Swearing: 2- I think there were a few minor swear words, but nothing really noticeable, especially when you listen to the book.

Drugs/Alcohol: 1- There is some casual drinking but nothing more than that.

Sex: 4- Ok, near the beginning of the book, there is a pretty steamy sex scene. You are pretty well informed about what is going on and it kind of made me laugh. There is another sex scene a little bit farther on but it isn't as bad.

I think my biggest problem with this book was that I watched the movie first. Unfortunately, I like the movie a lot more. Not that the book is bad, it’s fine actually. I just feel like the movie improved on some of the things I didn’t like about the book. It lacks action, it’s pretty low stakes, and Tristan is incredibly stupid.

I also feel like, you don’t really get the time to get attached to the characters. I especially feel this way about the antagonists, whom are way more interesting than the protagonists.

good. the ending was a bit lame, though. and i thought he might have developed the love plot line more, rather than all of a sudden they were in love. maybe just becuase i saw the movie first, i liked it better. its was more exciting.
also, this was the first book that i read a sex scene.. haha i mean i see them in movies but ive never read one! gross! haha

I want so badly to enjoy Neil Gaiman's writing, especially since becoming such a big fan of the Good Omens tv show, but I just can't get into his books! I find the premise great and the writing style boring
