Very different than the movie but still a good adaptation! I’m glad I finally read this. Such a cozy adventure!

If you have seen the movie, do not read the book.

I am literally on the first page of this book. I will let you all know what I think when I get done, or at least a little further in.

Okay, I actually read the darn thing months ago. and here's the thing. I liked the movie way better! Shocking I know. And I did read the book first, in case you're wondering. It was kind of a downer compared to the movie. And I didn't really buy the relationships like in the movie. I wasn't sure that Tristran and Yvaine really loved each other. Still a fun read, but they improved it in the movie if you ask me.

4 stars. If you're looking for a quick fantasy read that isn't too complicated, this is perfect! It's very lighthearted and reads very quickly and is overall enjoyable.

I had two gripes with this book, the beginning and the ending. The opening chapter was confusing and kinda slow. I found myself re-reading certain pages multiple times just to make sure that I was getting it. After that first chapter though it's smooth sailing up until the very end which while adorable was also rushed. I wouldn't have mind in the slightest if this book were just a little bit longer but then again if I had my way all of Neil Gaiman's books would be over 1000 pages. I digress, the ending could've been fleshed out more.

Everything else was really great though. I liked the society and the world building. The story is intriguing and fun. Tristran was adorable and likable as a hero and I was just wanting for him to get his happily ever after.

Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit and I feel like this is one I will more than likely love more after a re-read somewhere down the road. I look forward to it.

Was very nostalgic for this book as I loved the movie when I was younger. All the male characters were disappointing, and spent a lot of time on the background just to rush the plot never fully developing the characters.
