Wow. I am not a believer in love at first sight - that whole 'connection' thing, soulmates, true love, etc... I guess that's why I read about it. :) This book has that in spades - but it's not easy -and I love it when it's not easy... I guess I like my protagonists to be tortured, and boy, are Emily and Gavin tortured... not physically -but emotionally. I loved this, loved watching their relationship evolve. Yes, Emily was a little annoying, but it's easy to judge what you think she should have done when you're on the outside of the relationship. I can't wait to read the next one... Get here soon!! It's a five-star book because I stayed up past 1 AM because I could not stop reading - my alarm goes off at 4:30... it was that good... :)
Hmmmmm, where to start with this book? Though I would love to just sit here and talk nonstop about a certain sexy male, I guess I'd better start from the beginning.
The book started a little slow for me. We're introduced to Emily and Dillon, and the life that they share, but it's a not until Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome enters that I was actually gripped. From that point on, I couldn't put the book down, but I had a bit of a journey to get there.
The characters were a mixed bag for me. I loved Gavin, hated Dill-pickle, and went between like and dislike when it came to Emily. Have you ever seen that memo that says about wanting to hit a character with their own book? Yeah, I felt like that on a few occasions with Emily.
Dillon is such a despicable character, and Emily let him get away with too much. There were times that I wanted to scream at her to get a backbone, and then times when she seemed like a strong, sexy, sassy woman, which I loved! Those were the times that were usually down to Gavin.
I think I might be in book boyfriend heaven.
That is how delicious the main man in Gail McHugh's debut novel Collide is. If you haven't read this book yet, then what are you waiting for??? Gavin Blake is up there with the best of them. He's a sexy alpha male, that is sure to grab your attention and not let go.
The chemistry, the passion, the heat, the connection . . . You can feel it all when it comes to Gavin and Emily. They were HOT together and I craved their time together.
After the slow start, this book really had me hooked. There was so much to it; countless twists, and surprises, that had me thinking Oh my word, did that actually just happen???? I love books like that. Stories that keep you on your toes, but also knock you off your feet.
And that ending . . . Oh boy. If you're going to give this book a try, then you are definitely going to be needing the second book in the series straight away. I know I do.
Make room on your bookshelf for this series. I can't wait for more Mr. Blake.

I give this book 3 stars. I am really not sure how I feel about it at this moment. I am not a fan of Emily. I think she is a spineless little girl that needs to grow up and figure out her own mind. To me she shouldn't be worried about having a relationship with anyone if she is as confused as she is.
Dillon is just a hole. I am sure it's all going to come out that he cheated on her the whole time. The only people I really like are Gavin (one of the main characters) and a few supporting characters.
Then the cliff-hanger... I didn't realize there was one. I am not sure I will read the next book. This is definitely one of my least favorite "love triangle" books.

I really disliked reading this book. Emily is the most ridiculous MC I've read in a long time. Dillon is a close second behind her. The story here is that everyone is cheating on everyone and everyone is miserable and being lied to. I have no idea why Gavin loved Emily, I have no idea why Dillon is such a jerk, I have no idea what motivates these characters except the baser emotions.
Right off the bat, we are introduced to Gavin (the obvious good guy/womanizer) in the story. He immediately annoyed me when he covers up for Dillon's cheating.
Then there is the time when both Gavin and Emily are blatantly making fun of Gavin's date because she uses the word "like" too much, and they point out multiple times how dumb she is. This wasn't a cute and funny discussion, it made them look like immature a**holes.
Once again, we know Dillon is cheating and the boys don't tell Emily.
I'm irritated that I purchased book two before reading this one.

Gavin seethed at Dillon using him as a pawn with Monica. But despite his attraction to Emily, Gavin knew he had to cover for his friend.Whyyyyy do you have to cover for him? This bros before hoes mentality is disgusting. Gavin doesn't even like the Dillon all that much. If he really liked Emily, or even had the smallest amount of respect for her, he would start off their friendship by being honest.

"But to tell you the truth, bro, I don't think about it. What he does is his business. Emily's with him for her own reasons, and as far as I'm concerned, she chooses to see what she wants. It's as simple as that."What he does is his business, really? You claim to love this woman, she is being cheated on over and over again and you aren't going to tell her? Or at least allow her to stumble upon it herself?

I will give the rating is 1,5 of 5 stars! the storyline is sucks.. I hate the heroine, Emily's character! she is so naive to believe dillon everytime, accept the lies beneath it. in the same time, she also loves another man, Gavin..
hmm.. I don't like a woman's character who cannot defines and distinguish who is the right and the best man for her.. if at the start she choose Dillon, her fiancee. she have to accept the way his possesiveness, dominant and have past going out with some women.. if she loves Gavin more she have taken the decisions to break up with Dillon at the first.. she have to braver to takes more decisions.. =__=a

Torn between two men...one you feel you should be with and one that you feel drawn to. I think in some instances you just have to go with your gut. Don't fight it!
Emily has Dillon who has stuck with her through thick and thin. And then fate brings her to Gavin Blake. It's hard to come to terms with your feelings sometimes and that's what this story is about--realizing when a situation is no longer healthy for you and moving on to one that is.
I love the characters that Gail McHugh has created. At times I thought the "chase" in this story drug on a bit, but I love Gavin's character, so it was not a real problem in the end.
Great story!

Fun fact about me: I've been in a relationship with a guy like Dillion. I've been told what not to wear. Who to not hang out with. Where I can or can't go. So this book hits me at home. But I did make a promise to myself that after this series I would lay off the cheating books for a while. I don't mind them, but my angsty heart can only take so much.
Please note: you WILL need multiple drinks for this.
Gail McHugh’s writing was sexy, entertaining and completely angsty. She killed it in Amber to Ashes so I bought these paper backs stat. My heart rate was out of control this entire book.
Emily is our heroine here and she moves to New York to live with her college best friend and be close to her boyfriend Dillon. Emily is starting over after the loss of her mother and is excited for a new beginning (on the most part). Most people don't like Emily. On the contrary, I loved her. She grew up without a dad and she is dealing with the loss of her mother. How would you be if you were dealt the cards she was dealt? Think about it.
Emily meets Gavin Blake (total GD swoon alert) and the chemistry is nuts between these two. Emily finds that Gavin is one of her boyfriend’s friends and so that's just a recipe for disaster right off the bat.
Emily, I'm with you until the last ten percent. After that you're on your own, chicka! I don't know what kind of advice to offer you.
While I am not a big fan of the insta-love (as you guys know) or love triangles, Gail makes it work beautifully while also touching on the serious subject matter of abuse. Whether emotional or physical or mental, abuse is abuse. Bottom line. Her dedication says it all:
"Dedicated to women out there who have yet to find their voice, strength, and courage. Never let them strip you of what you were born with. Take it back."
She easily portrays the symptoms that often begin with over-possessiveness which can soon lead to more. So thank you, Gail for including this message in your book. I get it. I hope the whole world and women every where get it.
Now I'm going to read Pulse because I want more bottle caps, Yankees, birds, and green mini vans.

Drama made me give it 3 stars. And the choices Emily made.
I did enjoy this book, but Emily really bothered me. She is the type of female character that I really can't stand, so blind to everything around her, jumping to conclusions etc. Her character was the only thing I didn't' enjoy about this book, Im hoping the second book is better and maybe her character can grow. It also definitely needs more Gavin in it,loved him.
