I really loved this book and was drawn into this story from the first page. It follows Emily who has just graduated from college and is dealing with the loss of her Mother from cancer. Her boyfriend, Dillon (aka jerkface, lol!!) has helped her through it and convinces her to move from Colorado to New York with him. She then has a chance encounter with Gavin. They both notice an immediate pull towards the other. Gavin was such a great character and I fell in love with him immediately. I loved watching this unusual triangle unfold. I totally can't wait for the next book to see what happens next!! Great debut novel from this author!!!

This book could have been really good but the heroine didn't do it for me and there's not enough plot left to be extended in another installment or 2. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this book with all the great reviews I'd read and the friend recommendations. I just couldn't put up with Emily always believing Dillon even though he was an asshole all the time but refusing to give Gavin the benefit of the doubt although he never gave her a reason to doubt him. Naive is one thing but plain stupid, I have no patience for.

I did enjoy this book, but Emily really bothered me. She is the type of female character that I really can't stand, so blind to everything around her, jumping to conclusions etc. Her character was the only thing I didn't' enjoy about this book, Im hoping the second book is better and maybe her character can grow. It also definitely needs more Gavin in it,loved him.

YAAASSS!!! I have finally met my other besties husband. I feel so accomplished meeting my 2 best friend's book husbands in one week!

This book was soo good. I couldn't help but relate to it personally. I really connected with Emily and her relationship with Dillon... I'm glad to see something similar happening in books and there being a happy ending! Well, almost. Lol

I loved this book so much! It's full of romance and angst, and Gavin is one of my favorite types of sexy alpha males. There's a love triangle that makes you want to punch someone in the face and there's somewhat of a cliffhanger--not one that makes you feel like you'll die if you can't immediately get your hands on the next book, but something that happens that makes you yearn to get to the next book as soon as possible. I can't wait to continue with the series!

From what I can tell, the main problem for most people in this novel is our mc, Emily.
You see, Emily is in a relationship with an obvious douche named Dillon when she could be in a relationship with the sexy, sweet, and super in love Gavin.
However, I found Emily's issue in deciding pretty natural? Abusive relationships are hard to get out off because the person in them can't admit their partner isn't who they fell in love with.

My biggest problem was this was wayyyyyy TOOOOOOOOO LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG.
I feel like everything that was accomplished in this novel could have been accomplished in half the time. I just kept waiting for things to happen. AND THEY KEPT NOT HAPPENING. And then the end was super rushed.

Some other pros and cons:
Pro:
Bi rep
Good villain. He was evil and I wanted him gone the entire time. Which imo means the writer did her job.

Cons:
The dialog was super weird/forced
MISCOMMUNICATION/MISUNDERSTANDING AS A PLOTLINE
Emily's stupidity at the end of the novel
Spoiler Oh yeah, let's just go back to the violent/abusive guy because I THINK the love of my life MIGHT have cheated on me. There is obviously no other option

This did end with a cliffhanger. Unfortunately, that means I must read the second one because I sure as hell didn't read that many pages of nothing to NOT know how this ends.

Loved this book! Every once in awhile I love to get lost in a good romance and Gail McHugh delivered. While I did find Emily to be grating and annoying at times, I still loved the writing, pace and storyline. Mini review coming soon

This was honestly frustrating!!
Emily was completely frustrating, coward and stupid and I have no patience for stupid people. I kept screaming at her throughout the book.
I could have saved myself all the headache and stopped reading But I kept reading for Gavin because he's the best thing in this book, even though I don't like insta-love.
After that being said I'm still gonna read the next book for Gavin
