I finally managed to getting around to reading about Gavin Blake and he didn't disappoint. However as much as I wanted to really love this book, there were just some parts that weren't doing it for me. Some of the descriptions were a little over the top and a few situation were a little unbelievable for me.

Some areas reminded me of 'Thoughtless'. Maybe it was just me but I don't know, some parts were very similar in feel.

But overall I really did enjoy it and will be reading the next one to find out what happens.

I don't have a true review at the moment. I have more of a rant. Why does every author think their couple is 3 book worthy? Collide a trilogy no fucking way??? I am not shelling out anymore greenbacks on this shit!~ Just spare me the fucking drama. This book had lots of suspense, romance and drama. But a cliffy? At some point the main character Emily became Too. Fucking. Stupid. To. Live. This story with all of the turmoil and angst needed an ending not a cliffy.

I appreciate Gail for telling her story. The writing was decent. Good word selection and all. But the characters were fictional at best. Emily was so unbelievably stupid at times. Dillion was beyond a douche bag as he was called in every chapter. Then Gavin billionaire "Mr Tall. Dark, and Fuckable Handsome... love at first sight? It was hard to swallow. I haven't written a bad review publicly in a long while.

It's sad that Emily feels that her only choice is to marry either one of the men. It never once occurred to her that only she can make herself happy first, a man is the icing on top, as a result she was willing to settle for a man she did not love. To make matters worse, she is hopping from one bed to another. Even at the end she is leaving Dillon's bed and going in search if Gavin.
It's unfortunate that many women behave the same way she does today.

Very good story & I will recommend to be read by a book club as it has many behaviours exhibited by many young men & women today and will make for interesting discussions.

I am on to the second book, to see if some if the issues I mentioned above are addressed at all.

Does anybody else think Emily is pregnant?

Loved this book! 4.5 stars, because the narrator was awful.

This book wasn't what I was expecting, I liked the premise but something didn't gel for me, I'll keep reading the second book just to see if maybe they get a better editor cause the storyline wasn't bad-there were just a few words that were confusing and shouldn't have been used. All of these post 50 shades books--seem to be riding on the coat tails of the powerful billionaire innocent young woman theme. This one comes with a twist that is not unwelcome but a bit underdeveloped. I wish the author would've taken her time developing the characters more.

What an incredibly emotional read! From the beginning, I was pulled into this story and could not put it down. There are so many subjects taken from our lives' heartbreaks in this book that we immediately connect with Emily, knowing exactly how she is feeling. I know some people do not like stories where cheating is mentionned but seriously? It's part of life, love and/or mistakes. I, for one, fell into this story and had to be forced to put it down to actually take care of my daily chores...although some of them did not get done :P Great job, can't wait to read Pulse!

DID NOT FINISH

I had this book on my tbr for a long time, and a few years back I finally decided to pick it up, to remember those “good ol days of fifty shades fame”, however I have no idea why this book was ever liked or hyped, as I clearly remember that I dnf-ed it almost instantly, since it is about dun dun “CHEATING”! The heroine is being cheated on by her waste of space boyfriend and instead of dumping him immediately for the hero, uh-uh she chooses to turn a blind eye and stay, and that’s when dear reader I put this book down, and promptly unhauled it and it’s sequel.

I had some high hopes for this book due to the high average ratings, unfortunately pretty much the entire time I was listening to the audio I kept asking myself if I was missing something. I didn't really care for it. I hated Dillon and Emily, and even Gavin annoyed me at times. Dillon treated her like garbage and was emotionally and physically abusive but she stuck with him just because her mom had liked him. And because she was dumb apparently. Obviously the mom didn't know what a terrible human he was, or she wouldn't have supported the relationship. I thought about DNF'ing this audiobook, but kept pushing through thinking it would eventually turn around. I liked the narrator for the most part (mainly the Emily, Dillon, & Gavin stuff), but her voices for the side characters like Fallon & Dillon's mom were kind of cringe-worthy at times.
I thought about rounding up to 3 stars, but 2 really is more fitting. I mean the book ended up in a cliffhanger and I have absolutely no desire to read book 2 to find out what happens. I just don't care...and I think that speaks volumes lol.

Received this ARC from First Reads. Did not finish.

When I first received this, I wasn't really all that excited and I didn't expect much. Out of the dozen or so adult books I've read/started to read, I've only liked one. Actually, I loved it. All the other ones were completely and utterly frustrating. And from the description on the book I assumed that Collide would be just as frustrating and annoying. Why do I even continue reading these? I suppose I just hope that there will be another gem like the one adult book I love.

While reading the first few chapters I brightened up because it seemed like it would be one of the better books like this I've read. But then...I dunno. I'm a character person. Part of why I love reading is for the amazing characters who I can root for. I didn't much root for our main character, Emily, or any of the other characters. Emily wasn't quite the strong female lead I like to see. Of course, I don't always demand that characters be strong, I just want their thought process to make sense. Emily's did not. I mean really, what woman in her right mind in America is going to let her boyfriend speak to her like her boyfriend (sorry, forgot his name already) did? Seriously, this guy was demanding she cover up and not wear bikinis and whatnot. REALLY? I didn't get how Emily didn't dump his sorry a** as soon as possible. There wasn't even a connection between her and this douchenoodle, yet several times in the book she voiced her deep love for him. What did they even have in common? Not once in the chapters I read (a little over halfway) did they have a normal conversation.

I had another major problem with the story. So Emily basically falls in love with Gavin and as the reader we know that the two of them will end up together. I hate when the mc is already in a relationship with another guy when she falls in love so to make it easier for the herself and the reader to root for the true love relationship the author makes the first boyfriend a total douchebag who doesn't deserve the main character. What a COPOUT. I'd love to read a story where the mc just realizes that although her boyfriend/fiance is amazing and hot and just all-around great, she doesn't love him in the way she wants to or should love him. But no, that would take too much effort and it us readers wouldn't be as into the true love relationship because we feel bad for the first boyfriend.

The romance in this book isn't terrible. Compared to a lot of books I've read, it's actually pretty good. It's definitely love-at-first-sight romance, but I thought it was tastefully done.

That is, at first.

I dunno, the whole thing just sort of rubbed me the wrong way after a little while. It got so intense and unbelievable that I was just annoyed after a while. I like intense love, I do, but there was something weird about this romance and I can't quite put my finger on it.

I stopped reading a little after Emily and her friends got drunk out of their minds at a huge house party. I'm not super religious, in fact I'm not religious at all because I'm an atheist. But what I AM is very straight-edged. I don't like drinking, I don't like smoking, I don't like drugs. And I don't enjoy reading about other people doing those things. Drinking isn't so bad to me as long as the drinker is responsible and takes care not to get drunk, but that's definitely not what happened in this book. I was just so outraged when I read about that! I mean, Emily wasn't tipsy, she was DRUNK. At a PARTY with tons of men who wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of her while she was in that state. And her friends encouraged her to do all that! I'm sorry if I sound preachy, but I just don't see how people think it's fun to get drunk and possibly have bad things happen to you because your brain is all messed up...

Overall, I think that Emily was a bit of an idiot and none of the characters were all that appealing. I'm a hopeless romantic and I just didn't get that swoony feeling I love getting and I didn't go back and reread cute little passages like I normally would have had I been a fan of any of the relationships. Emily's friend was okay though.

It was a valiant effort I think on the author's part, but it's just yet another book with an insanely gorgeous girl who falls in love with an insanely gorgeous and rich guy. Why are the men always rich? Is being middle class with an average income somehow less sexy? Whatever.
I think that plenty of people will enjoy this book though because it's not bad, I'm just a bit nit-picky.

*I received a free ARC of Collide from Atria Books via Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review*

While there is a lot of Drama in Collide and it is quite predictable, I still enjoyed both Gavin and Emily. The writing is good, and I got to know the characters well.

This and all my other reviews are originally posted on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews
