First few short stories and excellent, tapers off a bit as book goes on.

I read this in one day and really enjoyed it. I think the author writes very honest and straight to the point, and has so many amazing lines throughout the book. Lines that make you think and that are so relatable. I loved her writing style. Especially the first two essays were my favorites, and this book has inspired me to pick up more essay collections in the future :)

This essay collection was fucking amazing and everyone needs to read it.

Seriously.

There's nothing more I can say because Pine says everything so well that not only can I not add anything, I wouldn't be able to articulate nearly as well as she does. That means that everyone needs to get off their asses and read this book ASAP because it is amazing, heartbreaking, encouraging, and wonderful.

That's it. Go. Read it.

i am so stunned at the way this book was written.
with a brutal honestly, emilie pine collects every single thought a women once thought about or fights with every day. pine may tell her individual life story, but i promise you these insights feel more like a shared life of womanhood.
i would recommend this to EVERYONE!

"Notes to Self" by Emilie Pine is a poignant and introspective collection that delves into the complexities of human experience. Her prose is both lyrical and raw, inviting readers into a deeply personal exploration of her thoughts and emotions. The book is structured as a series of essays, each offering a glimpse into different facets of her life, from family and relationships to societal expectations and personal struggles.

I love how Pine's writing is its honest. She fearlessly tackles subjects that are often considered taboo or difficult, providing a refreshing and unfiltered look at life's challenges. I definitely felt the emotions in her essays. She shares moments of vulnerability I know many readers will find relatable. Pine's ability to articulate the intricacies of her feelings makes "Notes to Self" a compelling and engaging read.

There are many themes that the book explores, touching on issues of identity, feminism, mental health, and the search for meaning in a complex world. Through her personal narratives, Pine weaves a broader tapestry that connects with the universal human experience. The writing is thought-provoking and encourages readers to reflect on their own lives and relationships.

While some essays might be emotionally intense, the overall narrative is balanced with moments of humor and resilience. Pine's skillful storytelling and keen observations make "Notes to Self" a memorable and impactful collection. I highly recommend this book to readers who loves memoirs and appreciate reading about unflinchingly honest and raw emotions and insights about life and it's challenges.
