This was such a fun read. We get to hear about Kyoshi and how she came to be avatar, but even more fun were all the references to other places and people we've met in the original series. The writing style and plot were also very good. Looking forward to the second book!

I came into this book having some high expectations with how it would have went, I also heard some high praise about it from my cousin and thought I would also have the same feelings. But instead I found it rather slow and it just didn't live up to what I thought it would have been like. Which I guess is my own fault but I couldn't knack that feeling and just couldn't get into it.

wonderful addition to the ATLA universe. in the beginning they get into the historic lore of the time that is fascinating especially in comparison with Aang and his avatar journey—we really understand why he left the air temple because being the avatar sounds like sh*t on paper.

great characters. there’s some lesbians! feels a bit rushed at times but overall an amazing read.

kyoshi always has been and always will be my avatar. however, some of the imagery in this book was really confusing and unclear. it made it sorta weird to read. other than that, had a great time. i love gay people
