I'm really enjoying the writing and detail of these classic mysteries. Beware though that they were written in a time when attitudes about women, gender, and sexual violence were different, perhaps "antiquated" (though maybe not as different as we wish they were). Maybe start with another in the series and save this for later.
Graphic: Death, Rape, Blood, and Alcohol
Minor: Infidelity
The attitudes about rape refected in a portion of the story may be a shock to readers not living in the 1960s-70s when this book took place and was written.jen0788's review against another edition

I found this a really enjoyable page turner, but probably enjoyed it more than others might as I live in Oxford and so am familiar with the location. Knocking down from 5* to 4* as the sexism/racism present makes this a difficult book to recommend/enjoy fully, and I did find some of the chapter openings/endings a bit repetitive.
Moderate: Death, Racism, Rape, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Blood, Death of parent, and Murder
