Lost momentum - had a great premise, though. Will probably circle back to it sometime

I don’t remember how I read this back then and I rated it 5 stars. So I decided to re-read and I’m baffle at my thought process. It was an interesting story but I don’t like that Stephen never apologize for his behavior for being insensitive to Juliana. I know his past was tough but that one scene he pushes her after being angry, was not okay.

One of my first historical fiction romance novels. I love anything historical, so this was perfect. I liked that it incorporated Henry VIII, but it wasn't all about him. He played a critical role though and his character was very true what is known of the king.

Juliana is a wonderful heroine. I loved her. Her transition from princess, to gypsy, to baroness was astounding. Even though she changed she never lost the essential part of her. She kept what was important from each different part of her life and put it to good use.

Stephen has a huge secret and I had no idea what it was and was truly surprised. I won't say anything here, since I don't feel like writing a spoiler.

The heroine and the hero are very intriguing together. They have major chemistry and you can't wait to see what happens next between the two of them. I love how Wiggs connects everything in the novel. I cannot wait to read the next in the trilogy!

Sounds like a bog-standard romance, but I enjoyed the story, setting and intrigue. And a bonus - it's the first in a series, which I didn't realise until I'd finished it. So it stands alone well, but if you enjoy it there's more to come!

My first Tudor-era romance novel and this was a compelling story! I especially loved how Juliana bonded with Stephen's son Oliver!

Entertaining, better than most romance novels in terms of story depth. Easy read. Typical for the genre.

The first book, in a series of three. I don't have access, just yet, to book #2, but the series is good.
It's very well written, leaves you on your toes, and makes you wonder what's coming next.
In all the best ways.

If you like romance with a bit of a mystery, set in the times of Lords, Ladies, Kings & Queens, when the titles were more than just a name, you'll enjoy this book.

I know I did.
