This book is unhinged in the best way possible. It’s dark, it’s twisted, 🥵🥵🥵 and somehow, it’s also kind of romantic in the “oh no, what’s wrong with me?” kind of way. This book delivers on the depravity, and I ATE IT THE FUCK UP like the little feral goblin I am.

Let’s talk about Alex. He’s terrifying, unhinged, and grows into a guy who would absolutely murder anyone who looks at his girl sideways. And, honestly? Love that for her. He’s the kind of character who makes you question your morals because, yeah, he’s a psychotic murderer, but at least he becomes her psychotic murderer.

The mystery? Solid, even though I figured it out early (what can I say, I have big-brained detective energy). But that didn’t take away from the sexy ride. Because this book is ride. The tension, the horror, the way the story makes you feel both disturbed and way too interested at the same time? Chef’s kiss.

If you like your books dark, messed up, and hot as shit unhinged spice un the “should I be worried about myself, maybe therapy is necessary?” way, this is for you. If not… maybe stick to something safer, like knitting or tax law.

I originally picked this up as it was a suggestion read after enjoying Lights Out.

I'll start with some good. It's an interesting story. Engaging and especially near the start it definitely has you questioning which way it will go. Often, I will read my Dark Romance with hubby (and yes, ladies, you do have every reason to be jealous). This book had us making bets on whether or not the author would take us down a path of crossed swords or not. For the record, I won the bet, no crossed swords.

I really enjoyed that the FMC was not helpless. She was strong, capable, witty, and funny, and it was great seeing a non-formula styled FMC.

This book is spicy and a little twisted, but what I really enjoyed about the spice in the book was that it was perfectly balanced and not repetitious. When it comes to something not necessary and just run of the mill for the main characters, it's not hashed out in unnecessary detail. HOWEVER, when things are moving and spicy and worth it, which is so frequent, the details are exquisite and the time has been put in, the like of which I've not seen since "Dear Penthouse" was removed from print.

Now for the less than optimal.....I never again want to read the lines "brow furrowed" or "x furrowed his/her brows," which on a scale of negatives isn't so bad that said, the frequency of that phrase (61x for brow furrowed) often jarred me out of my immersion, resulting in some frustration while reading.

TL:DR
Decent book
Decent plot
Good spice
Might recommend to friends
My brow furrowed

Honestly so bad. Huge let down after reading haunted love which I really enjoyed. Plot twist was extremely obvious, I knew who the “stalker” was 45 pages in. Just simply not good.
