The most I remembered of this book from reading it as a tween was the character (Cornelia) who is a Presbyterian and despises Methodists... as a little Catholic, I didn’t get it. As an adult who has mainly attended a Methodist church... I still don’t get it.

I especially loved the bit about the stork. The way LMM writes a phrase - it's just not something you see anymore.

It has been many years since I read Anne Of Green Gables which I did enjoy, but did not proceed to read any other books in the series. Somehow I decided to revisit Anne and jumped forward into the book where she is a grown married woman. While I agree with many reviewers that Anne did lose a bit of her spark in her domestication, there were still some lovely moments and some new quirky characters to enjoy. It was nice to visit Prince Edward Island once again.

I read this book during the period (4th or 5th grade?) in which I devoured all the Anne books, and then the Emily books by the same author. Now, reading them with my 4th grader, we are both finding Anne’s adult years rather dull. We gave up on this one after about 20%. She suggested we pick the series back up with the first book to focus on Anne’s children, but for now, we’re taking a break from late 19th century housekeeping on PEI, Canada. ;)
