I really enjoying reading more on Anne’s and Gilbert’s relationship and I loved the addition of Leslie. Something that stood out in this book was Captain Jim and the whole Anne can’t write a book on my life story because she’s a women. Completely irritating. Anne kinda just accepted the remarks made around her in this book. I felt like her character just make an exit in this book and became someone else.

Part of the Anne of Green Gables series. This is my favorite children's series.
I think i liked this one kinda the best because of how everything happened in it..it makes me smile when i think of this series. :D
Its funny I think, when you look at the book titles, they go Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, then Anne of the Island, expanding the scope of Anne’s domain each time the character grows. Then there is this book, which shrinks the scope down to one house, and that is a change that you can feel in the narrative.
I don’t much care for portraits of domesticity, or for the grown up cares and concerns of the married Anne and Gilbert. I don’t understand and relate to them the way I did with the other books. Probably its because I’m not at that time of life yet, but I wonder if I ever will. Anne’s life seems so empty in this book. It seemed like she had nothing to DO but visit her neighbours and be pregnant. A function, perhaps, of marriages of the time. When I was reading this book for the first time in the Anne series I felt that I wouldn’t want her life- compared to the other adventures, this life seemed boring to me, endless and unfulfilling.
Deride me if you must for applying modern ideals to a hundred year old story, but every Anne book leading up to this one felt relevant to my modern day life while this one felt like something of a soulless husk.

My gosh, this was amazing. But it's horrifying when bad things happen to Anne! That's so not what's supposed to happen.
And Gilbert is amazing, as always.
