I do prefer the stories where Anne is younger and it’s more relatable to me but this one was still so lovely. There were so many nice descriptions and characters, and the couple sad parts were so well written as usual, I actually felt sad which is rare for me when reading. All in all I really enjoyed this, it’s such a nice break to read one of these every now and again, between the YA and other books I’m usually reading.
This is my second favourite of the series so far. Never got this far when I was reading them as a child. This was definitely darker then the previous Anne books. But that really added some depth and dimension to the characters and the story. Really loved the new characters in this one, especially Leslie. Anne and Gilbert are beautiful together as well. Love love love.

I probably first read this book back in elementary school, and have reread it a few times since then, but I sat down last weekend and actually reread every word, and just LOVED this book all over again. Anne and Gilbert are grown up and get married in an early chapter, and then leave Avonlea to start their lives together far away (60 miles!) from Green Gables. This book was moving, and sad, and funny, and everything that you want for a favorite character as she matures. There may not be as many adventures as in [b: Anne of Green Gables|8127|Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)|L.M. Montgomery|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1188896723p2/5350.jpg] tells her story with as much loving and moving detail as ever.

I really enjoyed this one. The side characters were so interesting and humorous and I was invested in all of their stories. I also loved reading more of Gilbert as he’s always been one of my favourites. The scenery described sounded so beautiful and different from all the other books, a new but welcome change. I was not expecting the plot twists in this but it made it all the more engaging.
