Just wonderful, as expected. L.M. Montgomery has a lyrical, poetic way of beautifully describing the settings of her novels, and Anne's House of Dreams had perhaps the most lovely setting of all. Situated in a lovely cottage right near the sea and a misty lighthouse. I also loved all of the characters introduced in this one, particularly Captain Jim and Leslie!
This is my third favorite of the Anne books I believe (Rilla of Ingleside is my favorite and the classic Anne of Green Gables my second, though this might run close to a tie on that one). Captain Jim is my all time favorite character from any of the Anne books hands down. I cry more over his death than I do over Matthews in Green Gables and that is saying something.

Después de la decepción del libro anterior...este fue una sorpresa. Siento que volvimos a Anne de los primeros libros. Su naturaleza inocente y espíritu inigualable volvieron a aparecer en esta historia.
Luego de casarse con Gilbert, Anne se muda a su casa de los sueños y allí conoce gente maravillosa. Ame a todos los personajes (que es decir demasiado) pero sobre todo al Capitán. Lo que siempre me va a molestar de estas historias es que los personajes secundarios que se encuentran con Anne suelen ser sólo mencionados en un libro. Esto siempre me duele ya que la conexión con dichos personajes es muy fuerte en mi caso. Pero nunca me voy a quejar de conocer y acompañar a Anne en historias nuevas.
Estoy emocionada por ver el final de esta colección de la vida de Anne, sabiendo que luego viene la de sus hijos.

2018 Review: This one was sweet and I love watching these characters grow, and meeting new ones. There was a few times it lost me, but I don't know if that was from the book, or from my surroundings (aka people interrupting me). Overall following Anne's life makes me feel a little less lonely.
2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars: I took in this book better this time, and I think my note-taking does help as well.
Anne and Gilbert's wedding is everything and how it was described along with Anne's loved ones being there to support them. The way their setting and how their house of dreams and the town was gorgeous.
A quote that stuck with me is, "Thank goodness we can choose our friends, we have to take our family as they are." Cornelia Bryant.
I will forever be envious of Anne's ease of making friends with anyone she considers a kindred spirits. From Cornelia, to Leslie, and Captain Jim (my favorite of the the three). I loved seeing Anne and Gilbert's banter about their neighbors and friends. Anne has a way of building a found family wherever she goes.
I will forever read and find the queer undertones and Anne's bi-ness. This one was fun with a bit of mystery and some sadness but it built deeper bonds and characters.
The loyalty and love between Anne and Gilbert is everything. Between his nicknames for her "Queen Anne" to him being the definition and possibly the origin of He falls first and harder is goals in a future partners.
