The fifth installment of the Anne of Green Gables series. Anne Shirley is married and become Mrs. Dr. Blythe. They move away from Avonlea to another town on the coast of Prince Edward island. A new cast of characters is introduced, and Anne grapples with her most potent sorrow yet. Everything works out well in the end, as is wont to do in the series. This is a wholesome and charming story. No profanity, sex, or violence. I would recommend this book to mid-elementary school students.

One of the better Anne books. The new characters are great and all, but how can Marilla be in only two chapters?!? Still, I got misty-eyed a few times, and Montgomery tackles some pretty rough realities, in ways that will go over the heads of younger readers but resonate with adults.

I liked this one a lot more than the last. While I enjoyed the fourth book, there was something about it that was a little lackluster for me, especially for being an Anne of Green Gables book. This one didn't have that feeling at all though, and I was quite relieved. I had been starting to get a little worried that Lucy might have started to suffer from writer's burnout. If she had, it must have disappeared upon writing this installment.

Read in 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2023.
Per My Original Review, I still feel the same way about this book.
Rating: 5 Stars!!
Review:
This was my first time reading this book even tho ive read the other books in this series a few times but this one is definately a 4th Favorite of mine in this series especially since i loved how LM Montgomery described Anne and Gilbert's wedding, life and home so beautifully which made it feel like a very Victorian Romance.

The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. Anne and Diana are still my favorite characters and i still ship their friendship trope. I also love how likeable LM made Gilbert compared to how he was at the beginning of this series.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in Four Winds Harbor while reading, especially when the scenery was described.

Overall Another Good Book in this series!! Can't wait to read Book 6 soon!!

Good book!!

Anne is one of my guilty pleasures. If you've never read any of the books, you should. They are better than the movies. In the summer, I have to read at least one Anne book and wake up my idealism. I love how homey and surprisingly wise the stories are. They are ridiculously full of romance in the form of poetry and friendship and color and love of nature as well as a few silly and dramatic stories. In this book, Anne is newly married and living in her own home. Her friends and neighbors are loveable, eccentric, and warm characters that live life together.

This is a re-read for me, but I love this book.
