I have read all of Linda Fairstein books featuring Assistant DA Alexandra Cooper over the years and I have enjoyed every single one. Blood Oath is book 20 in the series and follows the story of Lucy who testified at a federal trial years earlier and reveals that during this time she was sexually assaulted by a prominent official. Someone who Alex knows well.

Once again Linda Fairstein fills the book with important and interesting information from her years as a prosecutor of crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence. So much research goes into each of her books and I always enjoy all the history that she places in the story about New York.

Her friendship with Mike (finally now her love interest) and Mercer are what makes these books so great.

After returning from a leave of absence, ADA Alex Cooper is immediately thrown into a cold "Me too" case. Lucy is a young girl with a horrible past and penchant for stretching the truth. She has an all too familiar story to tell. Unfortunately, this story involves a famous federally prosecuted case for which Lucy was a witness at age 14. And her molester was a part of the federal team.

Later that evening, when Alex and Mercer are returning from a surprise party thrown in her honor, they come across a woman having a seizure in the street. The woman is a former colleague and friend of Alex's enroute to the party. Francie Fain is rushed to the hospital under strange circumstances.

We get 2 different cases here: Lucy's rape and Francie's sudden collapse. Lucy's case is rage inducing - the way her rapist cultivated her and created the predatory relationship. It only gets worse when Lucy reveals the identity of her abuser. And poor Francie, walking to her friends party only to end up in the hospital. There is a lot going on in this book but the story is easy to follow and well done. I'm so happy that we have the normal Alex back, after the last book! Bring on the next one!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adore this series, particularly the audio versions--but like with most series, some are stronger books than others. Blood Oath was good, but not great. There were some interesting reveals, for sure, but overall, the plot was much slower than I would've liked. Ace performance by Barbara Rosenblatt, as per usual though.

Great read! Alex Cooper - smart, strong female DA investigates alleged sexual assault crimes committed by a member of NYC political community. Fast paced, suspense and great writing. I am a huge fan of this series - did not disappoint.

My friend brought this book for me since I wanted to read more mystery. I would have given it 1 star cause it felt forced and the ending felt incomplete, and the ending revolves around Cooper. It took me about a month and a 1/3rd to finish this book cause I DNFed this several times but I dragged myself through it cause my friend brought it.

But I wish I could give this book zero stars after watching "When They See Us" on Netflix. I have since then returned this book to my friend instead of burning it and making a campfire. Hopefully, she was able to resell it or burn it, don't give a fuck.

I have never read a Linda Fairstein book before and I was able to pick right up in this book within the series even though I didn’t know the backstory. Alex Cooper is a formidable character and lawyer, who is returning to the Sex Crimes Unit after a leave of absence. On her first day back she is thrown into a series of cases involving some of her peers. The twists and turns kept me turning to the next page, anxiously awaiting what lies ahead. I liked that there were some current issues added into the narrative, like the “Me Too” movement. After reading this book I would definitely go back to the beginning of this series and read them from the beginning.

Not my favorite of the series. Once again Alex is chasing down bad guys rather than beating them in the Court house. And where is the witty repartee between her and Mike? Not much about the relationships she has - friends and Mike.

3.5 stars - it's starting to feel tired, and not up to the normal standard.

I won’t finish this one and I will never read Linda Fairstein again. She unfairly prosecuted many Black and Brown people and I won’t participate in her political career.

What a thrilling convergence of cases Blood Oath had.
