George R.R. Martin

3.8 AVERAGE

George Martin is increasingly one of my favorite authors. I love the way he writes. And love how in this book he managed to take a vampire story to another level, and how he transformed steamboats on the Mississippi interesting.

This book was on the verge of beeing a 3 star...
The first 1/3 of the book was dull and annoing, so much detail about the steamboats... I don't care about them! Martin could've set the environment in way less pages...
The rest of the book is good, it could've been a favorite but for those first 100 or so pages.

My only complain is that George R. R. Martin gets obsess with describing boats and rivers, just like in Sir Davos point of view in A Song of Ice and Fire.

He goes on and on about steamboats, and sometimes you get gaps (f... gaps of steamboats and river details) between the interesting story of the vampires.

Classic vampire fiction with a mind numbing amount of fawning over steamboats.

George Martin kan echt wel schrijven!
