It's pointless for me to talk about how badly written and repetitious this book is, like the preceding trilogy, since so many other people have already covered that.
Overall, Christian is less interesting when you're inside his head, but on the plus side, Ana is less annoying when you're not inside her head. The two of them spend so much time in their respective POV's wondering what the other is thinking, and now that I've seen inside both of their heads, I'd like to tell each of them, "Nothing worth wondering about."
Unfortunately the book ends once Christian actually starts to become interesting. Still creepy, but at least interesting. Not that I would want this one to be stretched out into a trilogy. 50 Shades itself should've been edited down to one book.
Also, can a book contain so much sex that the sex actually becomes boring? Yes. Yes it can. Or maybe there are just so many times within one book I can read about a couple who have simultaneous orgasms every time they have sex, or a woman who actually orgasms on command, even the very first time she ever has sex.
P.S. On further reflection, this reminds me of a pair of stories I wrote when I was in high school, telling the same story from both the male and female point of view. And much like in those stories, you really don't learn anything new from the different POVs, it's just the same story with two different people telling you the same things.

I loved reading everything strictly from Christian's POV. I think if you have read and enjoyed the FOG trilogy, then this is a must read (simply for the different perspective). I enjoyed it.
EL James is a great writer. I read this book to see if maybe from Christian's viewpoint he wasn't a screwed up, narcissistic asshole preying on an impressionable young girl. Still is. I rate this down not based on how well the author writes, but for the same reason I despise books like Lolita - I know how predators think. If you don't, you probably should read these books. If you do, it's just gross.
Mainly read it to see what all the talk was about. Meh.

Great read!!! A terrific insight into his perspective!
3.5 Stars.
Definitely better than the original series. Anastasia annoyed the crap out of me with her inner goddess blah blah blah. Where Anastasia's POV in the original series was mostly insecurity, Christian is annoyance, anger, and lust (some insecurity) and that is way less annoying than a whiney, weak character. This POV was actually FUNNY at points.

I read the first few chapters and I had to stop. I recently finished "American Psycho and it reminded me too much of that. Yikes.
Decent audiobook but obviously can't listen to it in the presence of others. It had been awhile since I read Fifty Shades so it was nice to bring back some of those details from another perspective. On the other hand, I found that I liked Christian even less from his point of view. Not a great sign for the mail character.
