I feel that if you’ve read 50 Shades of Grey or seen the movie you either really love it, or you hate it. Well…
I am a faithful 50 Shades of Grey fan. From the release dates of the very first book (and the next 2) to reciting the words in the theater when the movie first came out. I remember my ex husband saying “How do you know what they’re going to say before they say it? It’s the first day this movie came out!” Well honey, that’s because I’m obsessed, okay?

Honestly, I get it, if the situation was different, if he wasn’t rich, handsome, sexy, sexual, Christian Grey would 100% be in jail for stalking, abusing and god knows what else but for me, I loved every minute of wishing I was Anastasia Steele. Having a wealthy, good looking man be obsessed with me? Yes please. Have unrealistic sex with me and spoil me with affection? Absolutely. Take me on a helicopter ride over the city lights? My heart is yours.
Honestly this book is just a nice escape from reality.

Grey is a great book if you want to see Christians POV, I’m very happy I read it and honestly I wish there was more… I didn’t like the ending, it felt rushed, so much was happing towards the end and then it just ended… I obviously know what happens because of the 50 Shades of Grey books, but still.. I wouldn’t have minded another Grey book to finish it off.

With all of that being said, if you’re a 50 Shades of Grey fan like myself, reading Grey is a must to finish the series!

An enjoyable book.

YES YES YES!!

This book was seriously EVERYTHING.

I get it, you don't want to read the same book over, but your really not. Being in Christians head, was legit amazing. To see hoe everyone noticed the subtle changes in him and their reactions was omg yes.

I wish this had come out before the movie, and they had added elements of this book into his character in the movie. I think if Jamie had this as reference he would've been able to embody Christian with a new light.

Don't get me wrong i LOVE Jamie Dorman as CG, but I think it could've only helped him had it been out.

If you haven't read this book, I would. It adds a new light to his character, and you seriously fall in love with Fifty all over again.

*Side note* Is the second and third book being written in his POV?
adventurous dark medium-paced

I'm not going to lie, this one was better than the original. I was surprised.

This is an audio book based review.....

This may be an unpopular opinion, based on all of the initial onslaught of complaining when this book first hit the shelves, but I liked Christian's point of view.
The voice talent:
Zachary Webber, best known as the voice of Ridge, in Colleen Hoover's Maybe Someday, was a perfect casting choice as Christian Grey. I don't know if I had a specific voice tone in mind for Christian, as I read Fifty Shades of Grey, but in my opinion, Zachary nailed it. He is good with the controlled intensity, as well as the questioning insecure side of Christian. His transitioning from character to character, both male and female are right on point. His breath control is very good, nothing like poor breath control to make an audio book unbearable to listen too.

The book:
I was well prepared for what this book was going to potentially read like. I had read the outtakes from Master of The Universe, that were posted online. I am not sure what people expected. A whole new story, something completely new? It is simply a retelling of the Fifty Shades of Grey from Christian's point of view and I LOVED it. Honestly, his side of the story answers a lot of questions left unanswered by FSOG. His inner voice is dark, snarky and often times very self deprecating. We learned in FSOG, that he was insecure, but hearing it from told in his voice, gives you a new perspective on exactly how insecure he really is. "It's just a pretty face" is how he describes himself. He uses his position of power, his wealth and his arrogant attitude to cover it up. It is until he meets Anna, that is all starts to bubble to the surface. His interest in Anna, borders on straight up stalker level. Once he sets his sights on her, and doesn't really care who or what gets in his way.
I was listened with great anticipation for the his dinner scene with Elena, while Anna was in Georgia. I was pleasantly surprised, that I didn't hate it. I dare say, I dislike Elena a little less as a result. She was Team Anna, even it was just for Christian's benefit.
I honestly enjoyed this audio book, and look forward to Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed told from Christian's POV. Let's hope Zachary Webber will sign on as the voice talent.

Loved it! It was great seeing things from his perspective and you learn more about his past. Ended as a cliffhanger for sure so I'm hopeful there is a continuation...

Just awful. It’s not the sexy, erotic s&m you think it’d be. He’s dangerously controlling, toxic, and manipulative.  I read 2.5 of the 3 books in the series only because I was younger and curious about all the kinky sex stuff, but I recall not being impressed with the writing then either. Hence why I didn’t even finish the 3rd book either. Well the writing sucks in this book too. So that reason and with the horrible human being that Christian is because you can read his immediate, obsessive, stalkerish thoughts, I didn't want to waste my time trying to finish this one when I have a huge TBR of books I know I’ll finish.

you know what? I wish we had gotten fifty shades PC grey written this way, getting Christian's point of view. at least he said things by their name. he wanted to fuck her. he tried for more. it didn't work. he tried again. he didn't get how she thought.

of course I know that this book comes as an attempt to show that the story is romantic and deep. I don't buy it because I read the first book. I am just saying I prefer this version, mostly because it saves me from entering Ana's head. I had a continuous feeling that Grey described a different woman all the time but he likes her and I don't.
I still like Katie the most.
I would have liked to see some more depth while developing Christian's character but let's not ask for much. oh and by the way I still believe Ana is an idiot for all the reasons mentioned in my review of the first book.
