Suspenseful and a quick read
Black Mirror meets Severence in this thrilling speculative novel about a tech company that deletes unwanted memories, the consequences for those forced to deal with what they tried to forget, and the doctor who seeks to protect her patients from further harm.
I won a physical ARC of this book from a Goodreads giveaway but I listened to this book on audio instead. I did not finish this book at 49%. I wanted to read this book because it sounded interesting.
4 reasons I didn’t finish this book:
- The chapters were too long and it caused the book to drag and be slow paced.
- I didn’t like the writing style.
- Not as interesting as I thought it would be. It was kind of boring.
- I’m not feeling emotionally invested in this story.

The story itself had so much potential, I mean the idea that memories can be deleted is a concept that really excites me in a sci-fi novel but it turned quite mellow. I wish we got something more dark and adventurous, more about Nepenthe and Noor trying to figure out what's happening within the organization, less about others dealing with their invidual traumas. I also couldn't really connect with the characters, only in the 2nd half of the book I started being interested in more than one POV, partially maybe because of the format. It felt like we are just following a bunch of people in the same universe rather than a group of characters within somewhat cohesive story.
