“I think we’ve both waited long enough to turn the page in this story, don’t you?”

This was a cute quick read, however I think it will be very forgettable

This was quick and fun book, I loved Lara and her coming to terms with her sexuality. I would not call this love triangle, because one side is underdeveloped. Jasmine and Larissa are cute but heavily on a miscommunication.
If you need a soft queer love story look no further.

I was expecting to love this but unfortunately I just…didn’t. The main problem was that I was just bored. I love YA because it’s usually easy to breeze through and although this was fast-paced and dramatic, it wasn’t capturing my attention. This book was simultaneously exactly what I was expecting, and not at all. I think plot-wise, it followed through with its description, but I was expecting something different from the characters. I suppose I don’t have to relate to every single book I read, but there was something quite frankly annoying about the characters’ personalities and the way they interacted. It was very high school-y but not in the down-to-earth, awkward, and painful way that I love in YA, but in the way I imagined high school to be like before I had started high school—cool kids and Adult experiences and all that glam. I wished I liked this more, and I do think it would be suitable for someone with slightly different reading tastes than mine, but unfortunately I was disappointed.

A Grease-inspired LGBTQ+ teen romance. Summer Lovin' had me a blast

Lara has crushed on the school football star Chase or all of high school. So why when he flirts with her at the start of the new school year is she not 100% blissed out? Her mind keeps going back over her perfect summer where she met and got close to a girl named Jasmine. Things get even more bizarre and confused when Jasmine herself starts up as a student at school.

Lara is torn by her previous attraction to Chase and the "ideal high school relationship" that time with him offers and her undeniable connection with Jasmine. The problem is, Jasmine seems to be giving her the cold shoulder now.

This was a fun read. I liked the Grease inspiration and the plot of a high school girl coming to terms with her own sexuality. It was a fun summer YA read with a message.

What to listen to while reading...
Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato
I kissed a Girl by Katy Perry
Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun
Tongue Tied by Grouplove
Something in the Way You Move by Ellie Goulding

Thank you to the publisher for the audiobook!

Honestly I haven’t read a YA novel since high school but I’m really glad I decided to try this one. In case y’all haven’t noticed I’m a sucker for both Jewish and queer representation. This book has both and I loved it. It’s fast paced and fun which is my favorite type of book. The title is a creative play on the Demi Lovato song that’s featured in the book about having a summer fling with a girl which fits perfectly with the book’s vibe and plot. Lara is a great main character and is always offering funny and sarcastic commentary. I loved following her on her journey of self discovery. I highly recommend reading this book

Made my heart grow twice in size and made me cry more than a couple of times (i was even crying at parts that did not require crying idfk)
Fun fact i always tell myself I don't like flashbacks, yet books with flashbacks always make it to my five stars list (for example mdzs)

Told through a dual THEN & NOW timeline I really enjoyed getting to watch Larissa & Jasmine's relationship evolve in this book. I think this was a great look at how you can fall for someone unexpected and still not have a label for your sexuality as we do with Larissa. I think it's a super sweet book but I wish it was a little bit longer to pack more of an emotional punch.
