A delight, as expected, from start to finish, from reacquaintance with the narrator Fanny to the comic monster Lady Montdore and the human hummingbird, the cunning Cedric. But I must confess to my favourite character of all being Uncle Matthew, with his prejudices, rages and irrational devotions, his hunting, gramophone playing and chubb fuddling. An absolute delight, over too soon.

Clever and witty, completely transporting to the 1920s.

unbelievably dull, best part was when cedric arrived, but did not redeem the rest of it.
i learned about this from a goodreads comment left on "bonjour tristesse" which mentioned this as being better. the review is incorrect.
