Paths do not come to you. You have to find them for yourself, and sometimes, you have to carve new ones entirely.

--4/5 stars--
Drip, drip, drip went the quicksilver. A reminder I did not have time for distractions. For men.
This was a refreshing reprieve from the utter boredom I sustained during Windwitch--I think it was perhaps because of the smaller scope of this story, rather than the overwhelming number of situations and point-of-views going on in the main series. Of course, that doesn't mean that Sightwitch has nothing to do with the overall series arc; much the opposite in fact. We're treated to some rare, actually important backstory, an introduction to a very particular and powerful kind of Witchery, and a brief look into some pretty fascinating history that is actually relevant.

I won't go into any more detail as this novella is so short that I risk giving away some major spoilers. But if the rest of the series is written as Sightwitch is, then I'll definitely be finishing the series. I actually cared about Ryber and her (mis)fortunes, which is a lot more than what I felt for any of the characters in Windwitch.

This is a novella that tell us a bit more of Ryber's back story. Ryber is a sightwitch, the last one left, who lived at a secluded convent. We see when she first meets Kullen and how she joins Merik's crew.

Honestly, I wouldn't call this a novella because it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to read this book before reading Bloodwitch. Without it, Bloodwitch would be SO confusing. So, although it doesn't concern any of the main characters, you cannot choose not to read it.

I loved learning about Ryber and the Sighwitches. This was a great book though some things continue to be left unanswered.
