The perfect, inclusive romance for gamers doesn't exi . . . *record scratch*
Calling all MMORPG fans! This is the romance you've been waiting for. The author has done their gamer research and it shows!

My only gripe is the quick resolution between the protagonists and their toxic past, which is anything but realistic.

I regret to inform you that this wasn't for me! Don't get me wrong, I see the value and can relate to this book on a different level. However I disliked everyone except AIDEN. I mean I actively dislike people like Sheryl, Davy, Deb, and Aiden's Mom (for a large portion of the book I simply tolerated her but she did grow on me).

There were a few moments in the writing that felt very cringy and "tik tok" culture slang -_-.  Big Dork Energy and F around and Find out. We could just not!

However it is only fair for me to also share: I love that Cathy wrote Maggie with common sense when it came to worrying about her safety when it came to meeting an online stranger. I respect that Maggie was down to ride for the people she loved and had a best friend who was willing to do the same.

enjoyed this much more than i thought i would. tone of voice is quite 'millenial' which made the characters read a lot younger than they were at points. side cast were all horrible people aside from maggie' son kit.

i was very invested in maggie and aidan's relationship and once they met irl, i really enjoyed their interactions. they had each other's back and i liked maggie's give no shits attitude. aidan was indeed a cinnamon roll (although could have done without the book telling me that directly even if it was an apt description) and might be my favourite MMC in a romance this year. he also brought bi and demi rep which i wasn't expecting and enjoyed seeing.

Ugh how many ways can I say I loved this? The banter is top notch, particularly for Maggie and Aiden, but also with Maggie and absolutely everyone else. Her son, her friends, and just about anyone else Maggie talks to has great repartee. I heard there was queer rep, and I love to see it. Watching this relationship blossom was just so beautiful, and I just wanted to hug the both of them. There is just something about following characters that have lived so much life and read as regular instead of "Sage and wisened" that is super relatable. I want more nerdy middle aged romance!
