I was a little nervous going into this one. I'm not a gamer - tried and failed - but have no fear if you are a duck hunter only fan, like me - then you will enjoy this also. Loved that it’s Gen X which we hardly get- loved that it was an older romance. I’m going to need more of Aidan and Maggie type romances soon!! Maggie is my hero and just loved her so much! Aiden is a big teddy bear that needs to learn to stand up for himself better and ask for help. We also got bi and demi rep with this one. I really enjoyed Yardley’s plot, characters, small town parts- I get all too well, and she knocked it out of the park for me for older 40s/50 romance!
This one will have you laughing so hard and so happy for them both!

I loved this!
Bi/demi man
Main characters are 48 and 50
Introvert representation that was relatable as an autistic.
Slow developing romance.
Drama mostly comes from outside of the relationship.

This story was well-written and great fun! I wasn't fully loving it at first, but then I really started to like the main characters and the romance was super sweet, plus I loved the nerdiness and MMO stuff. This book was right up my alley in the relationship dynamic, and I actually liked that there never was any fake dating really. The characters have this awesome and homely relationship pretty early on that starts out as a great gaming friendship. The discussion on being bi and demisexual was also done quite well. There are certainly some purposefully annoying and even hateful characters in this book, but they pretty much get taught a lesson as much as was possible in the end, and it was nice to see. I was so honed in on what Aiden was telling his mother and brother at the end and was super fired-up and proud of him. Loved the wholesome relationship overall, which had hardly any miscommunication, just a first incident that was more funny than annoying.

I was very invested in the main issues of the characters outside of their cute and quirky romance!
Loved reading through it every night before bed.
